Details of this month’s speaker…
Small businesses and self-employed people are possibly the most undervalued and underrated part of the economy, yet they are major contributors and currently at the forefront of economic recovery. Resilient, local, flexible, and at the core of community – hear stories of unexpected entrepreneurs and be inspired to copy them!
Karen Davies is the founder and chief executive of Purple Shoots Business Lending Ltd, a Welsh not-for-profit Responsible Finance Provider which she set up 5 years ago to tackle poverty, unemployment and financial exclusion in Wales through encouraging entrepreneurship and independence. Before starting Purple Shoots she had 10 years’ experience in an investment bank, 10 years in a small manufacturing business, a few years as a self-employed translator and prior to that she worked in the City of London for one of the big four firms of accountants.
Entrepreneurs’ Network events are offered by Start and Grow Enterprise, a University of Gloucestershire project with funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). Start and Grow Enterprise supports the growth of Gloucestershire-based entrepreneurs and start-ups (trading up to 3 years) through free training, events, networks and resources.
