*In person* How to Negotiate as a Small Business Owner – November 2022

November 16, 2022 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

Free

Our Power Lunch sessions are short, sharp sessions where you’ll get specialised support to help you solve your business challenges. They’re full to the brim with practical information and short enough to fit into your lunch break.

Small business owners sometimes fear the thought of negotiation, but many of us practice the fundamentals of negotiations every day, be it agreeing what time our teenage children need to be home from or party or renewing our mobile contract.

The ability to negotiate is key to running a successful business. It simply trying to reach a mutual and beneficial outcome between two parties. Often described as a “Win Win”

Peter will take you through the four major steps in achieving a successful negotiation and explore some of the pitfalls and psychology around negotiation strategies and tactics.

When is the How to Negotiate as a Small Business Owner session?

This session is taking place on Wednesday 16th November, 12.30-1.30pm.

What will I learn?

Peter will focus on the four major steps in a good negotiation:

  • Good preparation. This is the foundation of good negotiations. Understanding what both parties want out of the negotiation is fundamental.
  • Discussions and information exchange. It is important to decide what information you disclose, withhold, or try and obtain during your discussions.
  • Proposals and how to get started. A good starting point is to make an offer with a condition, but a good negotiator never gives away anything without getting something in return.
  • Bargaining and finalising an agreement. Both parties may have different definitions of winning, but what is most important is reaching an agreement that both parties are happy with?

Who’s delivering this session?
